Imagine what the music of a great talent would sound like if he lived his formative years in various and wildly divergent cultures. It would be like nothing you've ever heard before. (Remember Paul Simon's Graceland when it first came out?)
Well Amrit Sond is such a talent, and he was born and raised in Nairobe, Kenya. After years of African folk music coarsing through his veins, he lived in Kuwait, absorbing the various Middle Eastern sounds. Then he moved to the United Kingdom moving to the Rock/Metal beats. Because Amrit Sond absorbed these wonderful beats, rythms, and melodies, we now get to hear a truly unique sound, a blend woven of the unusual characteristics of these and more influences.
Amrit's music typically changes tunings and time signature's while employing the acoustic guitar as a percussion instrument, using hand slapping and two-handed tapping.
