Anti-Flag have been spreading their political punk message to
the masses since the early 90s. Through the years, theyve
gone from non-stop tours, criss-crossing North America in a dilapidated
van, to traveling as far as Australia and Russia in the past
year alone. Their goal was to become a voice for change within
the punk community, raising awareness on topics raging from homophobia
to the erosion of liberty and freedom in modern society.
From their humble beginnings in the Steel Town, Anti-Flag have
worked hard to use music as a force for positive change. From
clothing drives to benefit shows, their goal is to not only entertain,
but more importantly, to inform and educate those who share their
vision and hope for a better tomorrow. Groups as diverse as PETA,
the African Well Fund, Amnesty International, and the Center
for Victims of Violence and Crime, among others, have always
been welcome to make their voices heard through the power of
Anti-Flags live shows. Activism has always been the cornerstone
for Anti-Flag and despite the difficulties, they have persevered.
Anti-Flag have never strived to become media darlings or pop-music
musos, and have often chosen the least popular path of most resistance
in order to get their message heard. Despite the difficulties
faced by people around the world, their mantra of No Nations,
No Borders is a call to action for people of all races
and colors to focus on making tomorrow a better place for all.
Anti-Flag uses Dean Markleys Nickel
Steel Electric REG and LTHB, and Blue
Steel Bass LT.
Anti-Flag truly relies on Dean Markley
strings:
Dean Markley strings work well for Anti-Flag for a multitude
of reasons. The biggest being we are not the most pro band there
is. Often our guitars get thrown, beat on, sweated all over (by
us and the audience), and left in a state of distress. Dean Markley
strings always hold up and always sound great.
