Howard and David Bellamy were born on the ranch where they still live. Its a farm and cattle community with green rolling hills and tall stately oak trees. Its been part of their family since the Civil War. Howard and David grew up there with their father, Homer, and mother, Frances Bellamy. Homer had music in his blood and taught the boys how to sing and play guitar. They worked the family ranch and toiled in the citrus groves and cattle pens.
In their teens they formed various bands and backed up 60s soul artists like Percy Sledge. They later moved to Atlanta in the midst of the early seventies hippie movement, playing shows under the name Jericho. Moving back to Florida they worked in a small Tampa Bay recording studio where David recorded a song called Spiders And Snakes. Jim Stafford and his producer liked the song and recorded it spawning a No. 1 pop hit. This led to a record deal for Howard and David and they left for Los Angeles where they recorded the worldwide smash, Let Your Love Flow.
The Bellamys toured the world but soon tired of the L. A. scene and headed to Florida. They decided to record in the Country genre and proceeded to rack up 14 number one hits, 34 top ten over the following twenty years. Just some of their hits are Redneck Girl, Old Hippie, If I Said You Have A Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me?), More OF You, Crazy From The Heart, Lovers Live Longer, and Sugar Daddy.
They formed their own label in the late 90s and continued recording, making hit videos (Rip Off The Knob) and touring 200 days a year. In 2003 they signed a new record deal with Curb Records. Their upcoming release, Angels And Outlaws, will be out in the fall of 2004. It features the Bellamys singing with great artists like Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson, Neil Diamond, Chaka Khan, and Dolly Parton. Their endless tour continues on as they look forward to extending indefinitely a career that has already spanned over 28 years.
What the Bellamy Brothers said about Dean Markley:

David Bellamy-Bellamy Brothers
I started using Dean Markley bass strings in 1980 and Ive used them ever since in the studio and on the road. The Blue Steel Nickel Plated strings are my favorite-with deep warm lows and a crisp, cutting high end.
Dean Markley rules!
Wally Dentz-Bass Player, Bellamy Brothers.
