Bobby Tench

Bobby Tench began his international career with his band, Gass, who signed to CBS Parlophone and Polydor. He left Gass to join The Jeff Beck Group, recording two albums with them including Rough and Ready, and he toured with them before moving onto work with Ginger Baker.

Later Bobby reunited with Beck and toured with him alongside bassist, Tim Bogert, and drummer, Carmine Appice. During this period he also recorded with others such as Freddie King and Linda Lewis.

Bobby Tench signed to AM Records and formed Hummingbird, which included other members of the second Jeff Beck group. They recorded three albums, two of these also featured Atlantic Records session drummer Bernard Purdie. He appeared with Roger Chapman and Charlie Whitney before more touring and the recording of three studio albums with Streetwalkers, including the much respected Red Card, which found success on both sides of the Atlantic.

Bobby joined Van Morrison’s band to record Morrison’s best selling album at that time, Wavelength, and was also a member of the Van Morrison touring band. He recorded and toured with Eric Burdon before Steve Marriott included him in a new line up for Humble Pie. An eclectic list of associations followed including live appearances and projects such as with Brian Robertson of Thin Lizzy, Topper Headon from the Clash, and Ruby Turner. He has been constantly involved with production in between performing with his own band and recently began work on a solo project.

Bobby Tench uses Dean Markley’s NickelSteel Electric Signature series REGs.

Bobby Tench says about Dean Markley strings:
I first played with Dean Markley strings when I was with Humble Pie and have always like their feel and quality. I have used only them since then, because they’re reliable.
