Bucky Barrett is one of those rare true phenoms.
How many performers do you know of who have played on over 1500 albums. (No, that’s not an extra zero.) And we’re not talking second tier productions here. Among the movies, TV shows, major corporations’ jingles, and the over 1500 albums, perhaps you can recognize a few names: The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson!, Saturday Night Live, Ray Charles, Neil Young, Roy Orbison, Coca-Cola, Burger King, McDonald’s, Charlie Daniels, Dottie West, Chrysler Motor Cars, Dr. Pepper, Toyota, Sasson Jeans, The Late Show, The Today Show, Pizza Hut, BJ Thomas, kd Lang…
The internet police warned us not to put up the whole list as it would take up a substantial portion of the internet, but you get the picture.
We won’t even start on Bucky’s awards; you can go to his web site for that and much more. But to give you a hint, our favorite of his awards is his Grammy for Best Country Collaboration on “Cryin’” (Roy Orbison and k.d. Lang)—truly a masterful album. This guy has been getting awards and nominations for longer than many of us have been around.
