Corbin King came to worldwide notice with his blistering guitar work on the critically acclaimed VAINGLORY 2050 release. He was proclaimed One of the brightest young guitar stars to have come around in years. Blending influences from diverse styles such as traditional metal to shred metal to heavy blues rock, Corbins dominant guitar is truly astounding. Corbins instrumental CD Destination also received Editors Pick in the June 2004 issue of Guitar World Magazine, which states Corbin seems to have mastered every lick in the book: modal dare-devilry, hi-octane sweep arpeggios, speed picking, and unhinged improvisation
. Destination? King is already there.
Corbin has recorded five full length CDs since he signed with independent label, Leviathan Records, in 1999.
VAINGLORY has just released their new self-titled CD in the United States on Rebellion Records US, and in Europe on the MTM-Music label. The guitar work featured on VAINGLORY is without a doubt Corbins best playing to date! Look for them live throughout 2007/2008!!
Some reviews the VAINGLORY CD has been getting:
Tired of all the cross-pollinating core bands filling the shelves at your store of choice? How about a no-bullshit, traditional metal CD that relies on blazing riffs, shredding solos, and a go-for-the-jugular delivery to make its point? You just found it in VAINGLORYs self-titled second release. -Scott Alisoglu/Blabbermouth.net
“For shred heads, we have the track “Decapitation Attack”. It starts out sounding super fast with tremolo picked riffing and insane ripping guitars. This instrumental really showcases the lead playing of Corbin. The guy is a shred machine, awesome! Although I love shred guitar, I don’t like mindless noodling and Corbin’s playing sounds anything but mindless. This is melodic and there are parts that are very memorable, not just wanking.” -Evil G/Metal-Rules.com
Corbin’s strings are Blue Steel CL.
He also uses Yngwie’s Magic 8815 (.008-.048)
