Death Angel hit the live circuit before any of the band members were even old enough to be in the nightclubs where they performed! After honing chops in the local scene, a demo produced by Kirk Hammett of Metallica led to inking a deal with Enigma Records. Their debut album The Ultra-Violence was introduced in 1987 and instantly became a metal classic. After touring the US and Europe, the band followed with the sophomore Frolic Through the Park which featured the MTV hit, Bored. In 1989 DA became the first band of their breed to join the roster of major label Geffen Records. Act III was released in 1990 followed by a sold out world tour headlining jam packed performances from the Ritz in New York to Englands Hammersmith Odeon, from the Sun Plaza Hall in Tokyo to the Dynamo Festival in Holland.
12 years after a fateful tour bus accident led to the end of the book, a new chapter began. DA reunited for a benefit show for longtime friend Chuck Billy from Testament who was diagnosed with cancer. From the first note it was obvious that the chemistry was undeniable! The band spent the next few years performing live around the globe and eventually unleashed a new album, The Art of Dying in 2004. The concert tour that followed found the group sharing the bill with many of the their early influences like Metallica, UFO, Alice in Chains, The Exploited, Anthrax, Guns n Roses
In 2005 Death Angel released Archives and Artifacts which is a box set that includes re-mastered versions of T.U.V and Frolic plus Rarities (a cd of previously unreleased songs) and a dvd of videos, interviews and never before seen footage.
Its 2008 and Killing Season has begun. The new album produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver) was unleashed to rave reviews and critical acclaim worldwide. A relentless tour is underway and DA is on the road to deliver a Sonic Beatdown in your town!
Notorious for being one of the most innovative, original and influential bands that helped forge the legendary San Francisco Bay Area Thrash scene, Death Angel has been serving up their brand of music to satisfied customers for over two decades.
Dennis Pepa uses Blue Steel 45-105 on his basses. Rob Cavestany and Ted Aguilar prefer Signature Series 10-46 as their weapon of choice for electrics. Rob chooses Alchemy 12-54 to string up his acoustics.
