From a very early age, Fredrik Strand Halland grew up listening to Blues & Rock, like Deep Purple, Delbert McClinton, and Thin Lizzy. He learned cords from his father, a bassist, at the age of seven. At eight, he played in his first official concert in his home town of Olsvik, outside the City of Bergen, Norway.
At only nine years old, this prodigy began taking lessons from well-known guitarist Mads Eriksen. Mads took care of Fredriks talents, becoming a teacher, mentor, and good friend. Mads introduced Fredrik to the world of Blues. The special sound and technique of Stevie Ray Vaughan became an ear opener to the young boy. He mastered Stevies style.
As he turned ten years old, Fredrik and some of his young friends, performed as street-musicians in the main square of the city. They played for the local, enthusiastic crowds, tourists, and workers of the market. The local baker served them ice-cold sodas and hot muffins during their breaks! This performance got the young guys a lot of attention, including radio and TV. And it was through these first performances that Fredrik could afford to buy his first real electric guitar, a Fender Stratocaster.
Despite his young age, Fredrik reveals talent many older and more experienced guitarists can envy. He continues to impress his audiences as both guitarist and vocalist. Fredrik has his own band, playing on Good Morning Norway and in quite a few Norwegian festivals and other events, as well as in other European countries. In August 2007, Fredrik went on to Los Angeles to play at The Knitting Factory in Hollywood.
Now with the medias great interest in his talent and everyone wanting a peace of him, Fredrik Strand Halland released his first record, Beautiful Day, in September 2007, with a big release party in Bergen.
Fredrik plays Dean Markley’s Nickel Steel Electric REG and uses Dean Markley’s PT-13 Chromatic Pedal Tuner.
