Garry Boyer's guitar training and love of guitar started as a boy at 12 years old, taught by his uncle Richard Crawford. Garry has played guitar for 35years. He attended the prestigious school GIT/MIT in Hollywood, California, in the 1980's.
Garry's style of music allows for words to be sung by his guitar. He has played in styles Rock, Blues, Jazz, and Neo classical.
Garry's past teachers were Joe Pass, Billy Preston. He recorded some tracks with drummer Guy Ekstine, and has worked with members of Huey Lewis & the News, and played with Jimmy Gordon of Derrick and the Dominoes.
He has played in Ventura and Hollywood California, where he performed a live show for the ASYM artist showcase in August of 2008. It was there that Garry Boyer was awarded a Certificate of Commendation by the Mayor of Los Angeles for his musical talent and commitment to community music industry involvement. He then performed at the Long Beach Festival, where he and his band rocked the stage.
Currently recording a CD, home studio edition, he is recording and performing with different artists. Garry's visions in his music is to be an educator and a creator of music for all to experience through his melodic sounds and rythmatic scales.
Garry uses Dean Markley's signature series
NickelSteel Electric REGs on his Fender Stratocaster, and NickelSteel Electric LTs on his Les Paul and Ibanez RG 560.
On his acoustic, he uses Blue Steel LT.
Garry said: These strings endure many abuses, including much of my pulling on the tremolo and dive bombs; they react tremendously to tremolo flutters. The Dean Markley line of strings out play and out last all other strings I have played.
I have also used the Dean Markley Sound Suppressor on my acoustic and it has added sustain and totally eliminated the feedback. It works wonderfully with the guitar pick up. Be sure to visit the Garry Boyer website at: www.GarryBoyerLive.com. |
