Gerry Leonard is a Dublin guitar player, songwriter and producer. Now based in New York, Gerry heads up his own project, Spooky Ghost, and he’s touring as part of David Bowie’s backing band. His distinctive ambient playing is a feature of Bowie’s last two albums and his latest Live in Dublin DVD filmed in The Point last year.
Gerry’s particular musical talents have also been called into service by many other artists including; Laurie Anderson, Duncan Sheik , Rufus Wainwright , Avril Lavigne, and Suzanne Vega.
As a solo artist , under the name Spooky Ghost, Gerry has recorded two solo albums. The first recording simply called ‘Spooky Ghost’ was made in his New York apartment in 1998. His second, ‘Light Machine’ has been described by David Bowie as “Quite the most beautiful and moving pieces of work I have possessed in a long time”.
