Formed in Orange County, CA in 2002, hIPNOSTIC was the vision of vocalist/guitarist Blake Hastings. He had a burning desire to write and record hard rock music that was true to his influences growing up. Holed up in his home studio, Blake crafted the band’s debut release entitled, “Dissolve Me.” Shortly after the album was completed, bassist Chris Schafer joined the band and pushed the material and the live show to a whole new level.

Released in 2004 on the indie rock label MindBlown Records, Dissolve Me garnered countless positive reviews. hIPNOSTIC’s music has been featured in Fox Sports Net’s “Re:Evolution of Sports” show. Bravewords Magazine (BW&BK) added hIPNOSTIC to their 2004 “TOP 10” List. Revolver Magazine said, “The tuneful O.C. band packs a mean wallop”. All Access Magazine in L.A. says, “Dissolve Me is the best Hard Rock album of 2004”. Bravewords Magazine editor Aaron Small said, “hIPNOSTIC delivers solid songs that are ideal for modern rock radio.” As the year came to a close, hIPNOSTIC received 4 nominations at the ALL ACCESS L.A. Music Awards, Best New Group, Best Hard Rock Band, Best Overall Album of the Year, and winning Best Alternative Male Vocalist.

In 2009, hIPNOSTIC headed back into the studio to start writing and recording their follow up album. With countless live shows under their belt and time spent nurturing every detail of the new songs, the album will no doubt have a more refined and focused hard rock sound. The band was also contacted by “Midnight Syndicate Films” for use of their song “Ritual.” The song will appear in the horror movie called, “The Dead Matter,” and will be included in the movie soundtrack.

Dean Markley strings have been there every step of the way! From the recording studio to the stage. Blake and Chris have been devoted Dean Markley fans for countless years!

Blake uses Blue Steel Electric LTHB gauge for his thick heavy tone.
Chris uses Blue Steel Bass MED for his bottom heaviness.

Here’s what the guys had to say:
Blake: I’ve been using Dean Markley strings for so long that I can’t remember using anything else. Why would I? The tone, clarity, and quality are top notch! David Lienhard has always been very supportive and helpful whenever I needed anything. I’m very proud to be part of the DM family!
Chris: Through the years I’ve tried just about every bass string on the market. Nothing comes close to the tone and durability of Blue Steel strings. They simply last! Thank you Dean Markley.
