Born and raised in New York City, Laz Pina is the bass player
for latino metal & rock group Ill Niņo. Since Ill Niņos
first release Revolution Revoulsion in 2001, Laz
has since recorded on three more international full length CDs,
for Ill Niņo, including the groups latest ENIGMA. Other
Ill Niņo recordings, Undercover Sessions, a collection
of cover songs featuring Chino Moreno of Deftones on Faith No
Mores classic Zombie Eaters. Laz continues
to write, record, and tour the world with Ill Niņo.
In January of 2008, Laz teamed up with Ill Niņo singer Cristian
Machado to form production team Sound Wars. Inspired by producers,
engineers, and mixers that Ill Niņo has worked with in the past,
such as Andy Johns (Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones), Jay Baumgardner
(Linkin Park, Korn), Ron St. Germain (Tool, Bad Brains), Michael
Barbiero (Metallica, Guns n Roses), Eddie Wohl, Bob Marlette,
Dan Kornef, and lists of other greats. When not touring or recording
with Ill Niņo, Sound Wars gives us the opportunity to help
and develop young up & coming bands. We do it all, produce, record,
mix, & master. Producing and recording is an art we enjoy very
much. This is our way of giving back to the music and sharing
all we have learned and continue to learn.
Laz Pina uses Dean Markley Blue
Steel Bass Custom Gauge and PhosBroze
Acoustic Bass Custom Gauge. And Laz's tuning is Electric Bass
= Drop C & D,
Acoustic Bass = Standard E & Drop D.
Laz Pina is quite enthusiastic
about his Blue Steels:
For live shows, Blue Steel strings are the smoothest & most durable
strings in the business!
