Los Tigres del Norte

Para Español oprima aquí.

For more than three decades Los Tigres del Norte have filled sports stadiums and dance halls, braking attendance records throughout the United States, Mexico, and Latin America with their fascinating mixture of Norteño sounds, passionate ‘corridos,’ ranchera ballads, cumbias, and polkas.

Los Tigres del Norte are pioneers in making their contribution to one of most important cultural and artistic forums of Mexico and the world. Many of their songs represent the life of the working class and the experiences of immigrants in the United States. They have recorded nearly 500 songs and corridos, reflecting the illusions, dreams, and sacrifices of those who have settled in the United States in search of a better life.

The album “America Sin Fronteras” was the first album that obtained a traditional GRAMMY® Award in the Regional Mexican Music category (1987). The group has earned 13 nominations for a traditional GRAMMY® and three times for a Latin GRAMMY®.

Global sales of their recordings have exceeded 32 million units, with more than 55 albums going Platinum or Gold. In addition, they have appeared in more than 14 films in Mexico.

Their name, meaning The Tigers of the North, was given to them by an immigration official when crossing the border into the US. They have also earned the affectionate nickname Los Idolos Del Pueblo (The People’s Idols) for their sincerity and humbleness.

Los Tigres del Norte, unlike other groups that attempt to emulate them, have never allowed themselves to be photographed with weapons, and they don’t use offensive language. Drug themes are handled as a point of view, story telling, and often as a social critic.

Los Tigres rely on Dean Markley strings for a great sound. Whether it’s Luis and Eduardo, using their custom gauged Bajo Sexto strings, or Hernan with his Blue Steel MED bass 4 string, they’re well covered.
