Guitar virtuoso Mario Parga came into the spotlight during the ‘80’s with his outstanding technique when he appeared in numerous guitar and rock magazines such as Guitar Player, Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Metal Forces and played a live guitar solo on MTV’s Metal Hammer show.
During the early ‘90’s Parga toured, played and recorded with numerous artists, most notably as a solo artist and with Cozy Powell, Graham Bonnet and Forcefield. In 1991, his debut solo guitar instrumental album The Magician was released by President Records.
Since then, he’s recorded several new songs such as his well loved ‘Valse Diabolique’ for the guitar album The Alchemists (2001) and has released several of his own solo projects, including the critically acclaimed Entranced (2007).
Known to be one of the greatest sweep arpeggio players of the guitar 'shred’ genre, Parga combines complex arpeggio patterns with rapid alternate-picking, sweep-picking, tapping and string bending. He was listed in the July 2008 edition of Guitar World magazine as one of the fifty fastest players in the world based on a scientific note clocking study. Aside from his incredible speed, Mario is renowned for his highly emotive slower playing.
Mario has used Dean Markley strings in all his guitars for most of his professional musical career spanning 23 years. He plays NickelSteel Electric Signature Series LT, VintageBronze Acoustic Signature Series TLT, and Classical - Master Series Hard Tension.
Mario’s quite clear about Dean Markley strings impact:
I’ve used Dean Markley strings for a very long time, preferring their singing tone and even string tension (for picking techniques and bending) over all other brands. I play Dean Markley strings exclusively in all my guitars—including my acoustics, and I truly believe that they contribute greatly to my sound and style.
