Masaaki Kishibe

It is easy to realize that Masaaki Kishibe’s has an ever increasing popularity and recognition in Japan’s acoustic guitar circles when the Japanese version of Acoustic Guitar Magazine has nothing but good things to say about him.

Masaaki Kishibe started playing the guitar at the age of 14 and honed his skill under Isato Nakagawa, a legendary guitarist in Japan.

After coming across the unique music of Michael Hedges and Pierre Bensusan, Masaaki ‘saw the light’ and became hooked on alternative tunings and instrumental guitar music. Open tunings have been his ‘standard tuning’ ever since. His cool brand of music ranges from jazzy, bluesy tunes to feel-good ballads that are sure to touch your heart.

He’s published 3 solo guitar albums, “Truth” in 1995, “Growing Up” in 1999, and “Bloom” in 2002, under his own MK Music label.

A German label, Acoustic Music Records, headed by noted guitarist Peter Finger, included Masaaki’s tunes on a compilation CD titled “Made In Japan.” This album introduced Masaaki Kishibe to European audiences.

Masa Sumidé says, “Masaaki’s music is simply beautiful and his playing flows like silk.... Alchemy and Masaaki—a very dangerous mix!”

As you can already see,Masaaki uses Alchemy GoldPhos CL.

And Masaaki Kishibe says about Alchemy:

“These strings are simply MAGIC! Before switching to Alchemy, I routinely restring my guitar for each gig. Alchemy stays crisp and clear throughout a gig—and MUCH longer. Not long ago, I realized that I almost forgot the last time I replaced them with a new set of Gold Phos. In addition to endurance, dynamic resonance and a natural, silky-smooth texture make Alchemy a distinct choice over any other coated strings I’ve ever tried. I recommend them to any acoustic guitar freak on earth. Alchemy is a sure thing!”
