Micah Kesselring is a seventeen year old blues musician. Primarily a slide guitarist, in 2009 he was the 25th International Blues Challenge Youth Showcase Scholarship Recipient. His music is a combination of Delta and Country Blues, which he has described as Appalachia Blues.
In May of 2009, Micah performed at the 30th Annual Blues Music Awards as a special guest with the Otis Taylor Band. Here, he met many of his idols, including B.B. King, Koko Taylor, Pinetop Perkins, and Elvin Bishop. Micah has gone on to perform at some of the biggest blues festivals in his region, and will be competing at the 27th International Blues Challenge in the Solo/Duo category, in which he is the youngest competitor. Micah currently resides in southeastern Ohio.
Micah Kesselring uses VintageBronze LT and VintageBronze ML-12 strings on his acoustic and 12-string guitars, Blue Steel MED strings on his resonator guitars, and Vintage Electric Re-Issue REG strings on his electric guitars. He also uses Mandolin Phosphor LT strings on his mandolins, and Banjo ML strings on his banjos.
Micah has found the best:
Tone is very important to me. When I want the best tone, and the longest string life, I use Dean Markley Strings. Their Vintage Electric Re-Issues dont break when I bend two steps up, and their Blue Steel acoustic strings sound like heaven when the bottle hits em. Their VintageBronze acoustic strings have a nice low end to them, but also have highs that ring out and sustain. It took me a while to figure out which strings worked the best for me, but in the end I chose, and continue to choose Dean Markley every time.
