Panic! at the Disco

These guys are GREAT! Did you see them win the Moonman for Video of the Year at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards? They got it for I Write Sins not Tragedies video. Panic! at the Disco is indeed impressive.

Panic! at the Disco originated as a pop, punk rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada whose 2005 debut, A Fever You Can‘t Sweat Out, made the Billboard 200 album of the day, selling more than 500,000 copies to date. The band was formed from a childhood friendship between guitarist Ryan Ross and drummer Spencer Smith, along with Brent Wilson on Bass and Brendon Urie on vocals and guitar.

Through hard work and determination, these guys were able to promote themselves through online chat forums such as Live Journal and Pure Volume so as to create a following that would lead them to The Fall Out Boy‘s, Pete Wentz who introduced them to Fueled at Ramen Records. It was with this label that they received their first contract, and they hadn‘t even finished high school!

The band has been able to attract a lot of attention in with their nomination in October of 2005 by Spin Magazine as Band of the Day. Panic! also made their notch on MTV‘s Total Request Live (TRL), which gave them even more public exposure—despite their objection to being compared to other “mainstream” acts that tend to appear on that show. Nevertheless, they continue to tour, and have even been able to replace bassist Brent Wilson, who left the band, with a long-time friend, Jon Walker, who previously opened up for acts such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Panic! uses Dean Markley Blue Steel Bass ML, both 4 and 5 strings, and Nickel Steel Electric LT
