Born in 1982 in Yamagata, Japan, Ryohei Shimoyama began playing the guitar when he was 13 years old. At first, he was interested in James Taylor, Neil Young, CS&N. And he was impressed by the jazz feeling from Bill Evans. Since he was 18 years old, he began making fingerstyle guitar tunes.

In 2002, Ryohei’s put out his first solo guitar album “Invite”. And began playing concert in many places in Japan. This was followed by his tunes on Japan’s top guitarist’s, Isato Nakagawa, fingerstyle CD titled “Daybreak.” He also played in concert with Isato Nakagawa, Masa Sumide, Masaaki Kishibe and Momotaro Maruyama.

Ryohei Shimoyama was the guitarist for the song “My Way” when it was used in a TV commercial and on a CD that sold more than 2,800,000 copies in Japan. This was followed by his second solo guitar album “Ordinary Life” and in 2006, his album “Ordinary Life” was released in Taiwan along with his concert tour in Taiwan.

Ryohei’s guitar tune “Water Dance” was sung by Japanese popular singer Yuna Ito as her new single “Mahaloha” from Sony Music. Now this song is in the charts and introduced on TV and radio programs, music magazines, and so on.
