Straight from Memphis, the land of Elvis and Blues, comes Saliva. Scott and the band have come a long way since first assembling in 1995 on the outskirts of the musical mean streets of Memphis. There he found a bunch of all-star musicians in the area who shared his enthusiasm and flair.
Scotts vision for the band crystallized and was first heard on the bands Island debut, Every Six Seconds (2001). Today, the monster chemistry between Scott and his bandguitarists Wayne Swinney and Chris Dabaldo, bassist Dave Novotny, and drummer Paul Crosbyhas grown into something formidable. All of the band members contributed significantly to the new album, and all are in the process of coming into their own as artists in a huge way.
This makes Saliva an incredible mosaic of sound and groove. Josey and the band survived many a night of dangerous behavior to become Grammy-nominated performers of the highest order. Next came an appearance on the Dracula 2000 soundtrack with the track Your Disease, before their 2001 major-label debut for Universal, Every Six Seconds. They nopw have a new album called Back Into Your System. Listen to it! And Salivas Josey Scott, along with Chad Kroeger, is one of the singers on the Spiderman CD, Hero.
What does it take to turn ordinary rock n roll into some of the best hard music of the year? According to Saliva main man Josey Scott, its something called kickassness, a self-explanatory concept that shows up in huge amounts on his bands awesome new album, Survival of the Sickest.
Here are the gauges that Chris D’Abaldo, Wayne Swinny, Dave Novotny, and Joesy Scott use: Dean Markley NickelSteel Electrics, VintageBronze Acoustic, and Blue Steel Bass; all are custom sets.
