Souls Of We

With all of the elements of danger, lust, life, rebellion and love, Souls Of We have crafted an explosive debut album. “Apache Ghost” is a modern rock album that can’t be pigeonholed to any time or genre. From sex fueled rockers (“Push It”, “Come and Go”) to songs about inner demons and personal struggles (“January”), this band of Rock ’N’ Roll saviors is making music that’s both honest and innovative . The collective foursome known as Souls Of We marks a new beginning for legendary guitarist George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob) and Charismatic frontman London Legrand (Brides Of Destruction). Lynch and Legrand came together by a chance meeting on Melrose. “Back when George was putting together Lynch Mob, I read in a magazine that he was looking for a singer” explains Legrand. “I made a home-made audition tape on my jam box and sent it to his manager, but I never got a call back. Anyway, years later I’m standing on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood and I see George. I decided I didn’t have anything to lose, so I walked up to him and said, ‘How come you never got back to me on that tape?’ He looked confused at first and then started laughing.”

“We hit it off immediately and he invited me to come check out a new batch of songs he was working on. He gave me a tape of music, and that night I went home and finished 3 songs.” The chemistry between Lynch and Legrand was instant and undeniable. “London is a unique visionary and poet” states Lynch. “His words are powerful and descriptive. I feel like I have finally found my musical soulmate.”

Rounding out the line-up is powerhouse drummer Yael (Tom Morello, Alex Skolnick) and bassist Johny Chow (Systematic, Fireball Ministry). “Souls Of We is a dream band where I got to pick and chose players not because one is more famous than the other, but because I really respect and want to play with these people” states Lynch. “Apache Ghost” was self produced in various studios around LA and mixed by Mudrock (Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack). The record features several guest musicians including, drummer Morgan Rose (Sevendust) and bassist Fred Leclercq (Dragonforce). “We went in to this project with no funding, no label, no producer and no band” explains Lynch. “We were just doing demos and making music that we wanted to make. There was no one looking over our shoulders and no deadlines. I can’t wait for people to hear this record!”

For many years, George Lynch has relied on Dean Markley to keep his guitars fueled with their fine quality guitar strings. Dean Markley and George collaborated to develop his signature series Super V strings which feature an exclusive molecular structure and core-to-wrap tension. But the main focus of these strings was George’s need to recreate the tone features of the guitar strings of his past. George recounts, “My goal was to work with Dean to develop a string that had the qualities that I remember strings having back when I was playing in garage bands in the 70's. I learned one of the things that have changed is that nickel prices had gone up so dramatically that it wasn’t being used as much in strings, pickup magnets, or guitar speakers.”

“I worked with the design development team at Dean Markely and we came up with a hybrid composite that retained the characteristics of what I used to love about those old strings. We also devised a unique core composition and diameter that gave the string just the right amount of tension and stability,” said George. The Dean Markley Super V strings combine the best of new and old technology.

The Dean Markley string of choice is, of course,
Super V Electric Lt & REG. When George is tuning a half-step down from concert pitch, he changes it up a bit using .010-.042 (.010, .013, .017, .024, .032, .042).

George Lynch praises the Dean Markley folks:
In the 20+ years I’ve been involved with David, Dean, and the rest of the good people at Dean Markley, they’ve been nothing but professional and fun people to work and play with. They’ve been working and guiding me lock stop through the process of designing and developing the Lynch Super V string set over the last 2 years, which has been an invigorating and edifying experience…

The bottom line is David and the rest of the folks at Dean Markley “get it”, not only from a business perspective, but from the musicians POV….
