Warrant got its fill of cherry pie in the 80s and 90s, but apparently
that was not enough to squelch the bands hunger. With the
return of its original members for the first time since 1994,
Warrant is storming back to the stage in 2008, with plans for
a tour and new music well into 2009 and beyond.
The band, formed in 1984 by LA guitarist Erik Turner and bassist
Jerry Dixon, hit the rock scene in February 1989 with the release
of its debut album, Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich.
The 10-track record went to double platinum status and spawned
three singlesDown Boys (#27 on Billboard), Sometimes She
Cries (#20), and Heaven (#2). Heaven also sold over 750,000 singles.
DRFSR live home video certified Platinum.
Just 19 months after DRFSR, Cherry Piethe bands
second albumsolidified Warrants standing in rock
history. Cherry Pie went well into the 2 million mark. The records
title track became perhaps the bands most recognizable
hit, and the album peaked at #7 on the charts.
Nearly 20 years and eight albums the later, the buzz surrounding
Warrant remains. Since the success in the late 80s and early
90s, the band has seen many changes yet has remained a key cog
in the ever-changing rock landscape. Warrant has endured death,
changes in record label, and loss of band members, but with this
reunion, it appears these hardships have only fueled Warrants
drive.
Jani Lane returns to his storied role as voice of Warrant, Joey
Allen and Steven Sweet return to the fold, and mainstays Turner
and bassist Jerry Dixon round out the bands five-man lineup.
They need strings that they can depend on night after night.
That is why they chose Nickel
Steel Electric CL and REG, and
Nickel
Steel Bass MED.
Lead Guitarist Joey Allen exclaimed
this about Dean Markley s
strings:
For the past 20 years of creating music, Warrant has been strung
by Dean Markley! Weather in the studio for crystal sharp tones
or on the stage for killer cutting attack, Dean Markley Strings
have NEVER failed to deliver the goods!
Guitarist Erik Turner is most
enthusiastic about his Dean Markley strings:
For 20 years I have been using Dean Markley strings exclusively.
Why? Because it doesnt matter what guitar or amp, whether
in the studio or live, the strings feel great, last forever with
out losing their tone, and have stood the test of time consistently.
As a touring and recording artist the service and quality products
I have received from David Lienhard (Dean Markleys Artists
Relations guy) is second to none.
Bassist Jerry Dixon wanted folks to know how he felt about his
Dean Markley strings:
After playing Bass since I was 13. I have had a chance to try
every string on the planet. The main problem for me was that
after one show they where history. All that has changed with
the Dean Markley Signature Series Bass strings. These strings
not only last, but the sound is pure and true. Strings are the
most important part of your sound and I highly recommend Dean
Markley. Warrant has been using Dean Markleys since the
80s. I rest my case :) .
